Metabolic Syndrome study of Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex

The clinical study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy of Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex on blood lipid parameters.

Sixty-eight females with Metabolic Syndrome (Syndrome X) and with BMI (Body Mass Index) of between 25 and 40 participated in this mono-centric randomised, placebo-controlled, parallel double-blind study.

For 6 weeks, half of the female volunteers consumed 1.6g of Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex per meal and the other half consumed a placebo. Both groups followed a well-balanced diet with controlled lipid intake.

The efficacy of Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex was evaluated, on day 14 and day 42 of the study. Changes in several lipid parameters were measured:  LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and serum triglycerides. At the end of the study, the participants were re-evaluated for metabolic syndrome.

spacerOn the 14th day of the study, the group that took Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex showed a decrease in LDL cholesterol level by 10%, compared to a 3% decrease in the placebo group. The HDL cholesterol levels of the group that consumed patented fibre complexshowed an upward significant trend throughout the course of the study whereas the placebo group showed a downward trend. Overall, a noticeable increase on good cholesterol was observed in the group that took Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex. An elevated level of good cholesterol is generally associated with reduced cardiovascular risk.

On the 14th day of the study, the number of volunteers with Metabolic Syndrome decreased in both groups. After 42 days of treatment, 39% of the group that took Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex were diagnosed to  have no metabolic syndrome, compared to 8% in the placebo group.

No side effects were observed on the group taking Liposinol’s™ patented fibre complex.
